UVA EEBIO Welcomes Joaquin Nunez

Joaquin recently joined the Bergland Lab to investigate the evolutionary dynamics of seasonality in Drosophila melanogaster. In this project, Joaquin will use a combination of genomics, ecology, and population genetics to elucidate whether repeated rapid evolution is a predictable process in nature.

He recently completed his PhD from Brown University working with David M. Rand. His doctoral project investigated the mechanisms maintaining functional genetic variation in barnacle populations living in highly heterogeneous environments.

You can learn more about his work at his site: https://www.jcbnunez.org/
